The Rev. Kathy Nealand is originally from Long Island, NY. She has been an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church, USA, since October 2005. She attended seminary at New Brunswick Theological Seminary in New Brunswick, NJ, and has served five congregations prior to arriving at Castleton Hill Moravian Church. “Pastor Kathy” is looking forward to learning all about the Moravians here on Staten Island and beyond.
Pastor Kathy’s calling is to congregations during transitional times. She believes that it is necessary after a long pastorate, for a congregation to rediscover its own identity so that they can determine what kind of pastor the church needs going forward. Her belief is that to do so requires an open heart, mind, body and soul so that we are ready to see where God is calling the church to be and do now and into the future.
Additionally, her passions are to preach a hopeful message that speaks to the people in the pew in a personal way, to sing the music of the church, to teach the children about God, to care for the friends and families of the church and community, and to lead Bible studies in small group settings.
When you come to worship with us, please be sure to introduce yourself to Pastor Kathy. All are welcome here!
