Winter Clothing Distribution

Our special Clothing Distribution for those affected by Hurricane Sandy was well received, and forged new links across our community.

On February 16th and 18th, 2013 we assisted 622 people. 194 were folks affected by Sandy. We had volunteers from several groups and congregations. Of interest this time round is the number of Moravian churches who pitched in. Their contributions made us feel very loved and cared for and we hope that we conveyed that love and concern during the distribution to those who came for clothing. In addition to volunteers from our 4 Staten Island Moravian churches, we had help from:

• York Moravian, York, Pennsylvania
  
• East Hills Moravian, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

• Mountainview Moravian, Hellertown, Pennsylvania
  
• Schoeneck Moravian, Nazareth, Pennsylvania
  
• Denominational Staff from the Church Center

Also assisting were volunteers from 2 Americorp groups, Moravian College, St. John's University and Wagner College. Also contributing were St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Port Royal, Virginia, Staten Island Unitarian Universalist Church, St. Teresa's Roman Catholic Church, Trinity Episcopal Wall Street and Grace Episcopal in Manhattan.
